1.5 Miles of Art on Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Arts Gowanus ArtWalk on Atlantic Ave is a 1.5 mile socially distanced ArtWalk featuring over 100 artists’ mixed-media works displayed in the windows of 65+ business locations, taking over three large vacant retail spaces (among them the old Barney’s at 194 Atlantic), community gardens, and outdoor areas. Replacing the annual Gowanus open art studios event, the celebration weekend will also feature live performances and street artists will complete murals on selected rolling gates and outdoor dining fences. Meant as a celebration of the local artists and small businesses, over 200 people — artists, curators, and small business owners — came together to organize and celebrate art and local communities, in a safe environment as COVID19 is still affecting thousands of people every day and most indoor spaces remain closed or with limited access.
The self-guided exhibit featuring the works of renowned Brooklyn artists including Swoon, A.V. Ryan, Miguel Ayuso, Natale Adgnot, and many more, will include photography, paintings, drawings, sculpture, multimedia, and large installations at more than 65 storefronts, outdoor dining areas, medical offices, and public spaces along Atlantic Avenue between Fourth Avenue and the waterfront.
